Datin Dr. Hafizah graduated as a registered nurse from College of Nursing, Penang in 1974. Datin Dr. Hafizah predominantly worked as a renal nurse where she specialized in Renal and Urology with a Certificate of Renal Nursing from the Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Australia in 1987. Datin Dr. Hafizah has been working as an educator for 32 years. She obtained her Certificate of Advanced Diploma in Teaching from University of Malaya in the year 1982. In year 1993, Datin Dr. Hafizah obtained her BSc Nursing from University of Sydney, Australia. Datin Dr. Hafizah completed her Master of Education in the year 2000 from University of Malaya. Datin Dr. Hafizah completed her PhD in Health Sciences from Lincoln University College in the year of 2017.

 

Datin Dr. Hafizah has extensive experience in both undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education, and the development and improvement of curriculum in nursing education. Datin Dr. Hafizah has been actively involved as a program and curriculum auditor for Malaysian Nursing Board and Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

He has published more than 30 research papers in national and international journals of repute. He is Fellow of different Academic and Professional Institutions and Bodies.

 

His career started as a Scientist of CSIR and he was on deputation to a Fertilizer Company, PPCL, a Government of India Enterprise in 1982 for a year and worked in PPCL till 1997 at New Delhi. During this period, he was involved in UNIDO sponsored research project at International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC), Alabama, USA; also Australian aided Wasteland Afforestation Project as well as European Union sponsored Fertilizer Education Project.

 

After working in the field of natural resources management, bio-degradation, environmental management for more than 15 years, he joined GAIL(India)Limited, A Maharatna Company of Government of India at New Delhi in 1998 to work with Natural Gas, a green , clean and environment friendly source of energy in its promotion, supply and distribution, including City Gas Distribution (CGD), both CNG & PNG. He received prestigious " GAIL's Hero " Award in 2005 for his outstanding contribution. He retired as General Manager & Zonal Head of GAIL in 2013. As an educator, he delivers Guest Lectures on various topics, more particularly on Energy and Environment at different Universities, Institutes, Colleges, Engineering Colleges Management Institutes, Schools etc. in India and abroad to bring an awareness on Energy Security & Environmental Protection. Dr. Debdas Ray obtained his M.Sc. degree in Applied Geology from Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur, India) and subsequently his Ph.D. degree in Geology from the University of Calcutta, India.

He taught Geology at the undergraduate level at Asutosh College (affiliated to University of Calcutta) for thirty four years (1979-2013) and acted as a Guest faculty to teach Environmental Geochemistry at Post Graduate students of Environmental Science in the same college for several years. He was awarded Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship in Environmental Leadership Program in 2010-11 and carried out research at Montclair State University in USA on application of Green Technology for the sustainable development of abundant coal mine sites. He has research experience in the fields of Petrology of Igneous and Metamorphic Rocks in Precambrian terrains, Environmental Management related to mining, Mineral Policy and Mineral Economics. He also served as the Director of Distance Education, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata for a period of time. He also served as an Adjunct Faculty in Engineering Geology, at Techno India Batanagar in the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Bhattacharya is an alumnus of University of Calcutta and has carried out his doctoral research at the Department of Medical Entomology, Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine. He pursued his post-doctoral assignment at Institute of De Hygiene e Medicina Tropical, Lisbon, Portugal in 2000 followed by a brief stint at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2004 by the invitation of renowned medical entomologist late Prof. C. F. Curtis.

His field of research is eco-epidemiology of vector and vector-borne diseases. He has about hundred scientific publications to his name. He is a fellow of The Zoological Society of Kolkata and The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, London. He has been invited to various countries, namely Australia, Hungary, Italy, England, Kenya, Indonesia to present his work. He has also been invited to participate in a WHO (Africa region) organized meeting, as an expert in 2017, at Brazzaville, The Republic of Congo. In the following year he was honored by the Government of West Bengal, India with the “Outstanding Teacher” Award (2018). His biobibliography titled ‘Dr. Sajal Bhattacharya: An Outstanding Medico-Entomologist’ has been published (2015) by the Centre for Research in Medical Entomology (ICMR). He has published three papers on the life and works of Sir Ronald Ross and also co-authored a book titled “Dr. Ronald Ross – Mosquito, Malaria, India and the Nobel Prize in 2019.

He was conferred the prestigious Life time achievement award by the Society of Medical Arthropodology (SOMA) at Sir Ronald Ross Institute of Parasitology, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. Presently he is the Regional Chairman (Eastern and North-eastern states of India) of National Academy of Vector Borne Diseases (NAVBD), National Executive Member of Society of Medical Arthropodology (Hyderabad), Association of Entomologists (Patiala) and member of the advisory board of Society of Vector Ecology (SOVE Indian Region). .
